Dr. Amr Abbas

Amr Abbas, M.D, F.A.C.C, F.S.V.M., R.P.V.I., F.A.S.E.

Dr. Abbas graduated from Ain-Shams University School of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt, after which he completed his Internal Medicine residency at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He served his Cardiovascular Diseases Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic as well as Chief Cardiology Fellow at the Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale Arizona and his Interventional Cardiology and Peripheral Vascular Fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.

Dr. Abbas is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Echocardiography, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac CT angiography, Vascular, and Endovascular Medicine. He is also a registered physician in vascular interpretation. His knowledge and experience is being utilized in the areas of clinical and interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular disease. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Oakland University-William Beaumont Medical School. He has authored numerous articles on echocardiography, interventional cardiology, and peripheral vascular disease. He has also written multiple book chapters and is a reviewer for multiple peer review journals. He is actively involved in the education of the cardiovascular fellows at William Beaumont Hospital and has conducted multiple lectures in the field of cardiovascular diseases. He has been acknowledged in the publication The Best Doctors in America. He is the Co-Director of the echo lab at William Beaumont-Royal Oak.

He is a Northpointe Heart Center cardiologist and sees patients at the Northpointe office in Berkley and in Troy (across from Troy Beaumont). He speaks English, French and Arabic. He is on staff at William Beaumont Hospitals in Royal Oak and Troy.

Dr. Robert D. Safian

Robert D. Safian, M.D., F.A.C.C., FSCAI, FSVMB

Graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed his postgraduate training at Harvard Medical School. After his fellowship, he served on the faculty at Harvard Medical School as assistant professor of medicine and associate director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Dr. Safian is certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also Board Certified in vascular and endovascular medicine by the American Board of Vascular Medicine.

Dr. Safian’s expertise centers on the use of various devices, such as balloons, lasers, atherectomy devices and stents to treat patients with heart and vascular disease. He has lectured around the world, and he has authored numerous book chapters and articles for medical journals which includes authoring Manual of Interventional Cardiology. In addition, Dr. Safian serves on various local and national committees that evaluate new technologies. He has also been acknowledged in the publication The Best Doctors in America.

He currently serves as the Director of Interventional Cardiology and Vascular Medicine and the Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Training Program at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.


Dr. Mazen Shoukfeh

Mazen Shoukfeh, M.D. , F.A.C.C., F.S.V.M, R.P.V.I.

A graduate of Damascus University School of Medicine in Damascus, Syria. Dr. Shoukfeh completed his internal medicine residency at Michigan State University Associated Hospitals while serving as Chief Resident and Teaching Associate.

Dr. Shoukfeh then completed a cardiology fellowship at  Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, where he served as Chief Cardiology Fellow. He also completed an Interventional Cardiology fellowship program at Beaumont Hospital with further training in peripheral angioplasty at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Peripheral Vascular, Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography and Cardiac CT Angiography. Dr. Shoukfeh is a registered physician in Vascular Interpretation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and has additional training in cardiac CT scans. He has authored numerous articles. He is actively involved in the education of the cardiovascular fellows at Beaumont Hosptials.

He speaks fluent English and Arabic; he sees patients at Northpointe Heart Center in Berkley and Troy (across from Troy Beaumont). Dr. Shoukfeh is on teaching staff  Beaumont Hospitals in Royal Oak and Troy.
